Kia ora and welcome to the survey for the project, 'Community Strategising about Psychedelic Therapy in Aotearoa'!
Here is some information about our project, in order for you to decide whether you would like to participate in this survey.
This study, and your involvement
This is an exploratory research project that aims to deepen our understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and risks involved in the incorporation of psychedelic therapies into mental healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We hope that the findings of this project will shape the clinical, policy, and legal guidelines for psychedelic therapy to be effective, safe, and appropriate, if it is to be made available in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.
This survey assumes you have some knowledge of psychedelic therapy.
Maybe you found this link through browsing our website, after participating in one of our discussion meetings, after being sent the link to the survey from someone else, or another way. However you got here, we welcome learning from your thoughts on the development of psychedelic therapies in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Before you continue, please also consider sharing this information with others and discussing with them whether you would like to participate. If you decide not to participate, but change your mind later, you are welcome to contact us again to find out about opportunities to participate in this project!
Risks and benefits of your participation
There are minimal risks involved in filling out this survey, as we will not be asking about any personal experiences of the use of illegal substances. Instead, we will be focusing the conversation on your views and reflections on different aspects of the future provision of psychedelic therapy in Aotearoa.
In terms of benefits of participation for you,
the survey will give you an opportunity to share your views on psychedelic therapy as a new treatment modality. The survey will also help us to understand how psychedelic therapy might support the building of a healthier and fairer Aotearoa for all.
Project funding
Funding for this project was provided by a philanthropic grant to the University of Auckland School of Medicine Foundation. The University of Auckland administers the grant.
Your voluntary participation and withdrawal
Your participation is completely voluntary, and you have the right to opt out completely or withdraw your consent at any time while you are filling out the survey, with no disadvantage to yourself.
Your IP address will not be collected. If you do not complete the survey, we will use your responses up to this point in our data analysis. You may want to talk to your family and friends if you have any concerns about this study, and also reach out to us (see below for our contact details).
Towards the end of the survey, you are also welcome to choose whether you would like to be identifiable publicly as stating what you tell us in the interview, to choose a pseudonym, or to be completely anonymous.
The survey should take
about 20 minutes to complete
, though we welcome any length responses. While the survey questions are asked in English,
you are welcome to respond in any language.
The responses you provide will be stored on a secure password-protected drive in the University system for six years, after which they will be destroyed.
